About Lachung

The word Lachung means “Small Pass”. The picturesque mountain village of Lachung, at a height of 8610 ft, embraced by snow capped mountain peaks, breathtaking waterfalls, sparkling streams and apple orchards is the perfect holiday destination. Sprawled across the banks of the Lachung Chu [river], which slices the village in two. Lachung is famous for its apples, peaches and apricots.

Places Of Interest :

  • Lachung Lu A tiny hamlet in the lap of the mighty Himalayas embosomed by snow capped mountains peaks, waterfalls, streams. It also boasts of apple orchard, peaches and apricots.
  • Lachung Monastery Situated and nestled amid the apple orchards in tranquility, this monastery boasts of its grand architercture.
  • Yumthang Valley or the Valley of Flowers It is a nature park with around 40 species of the rhododendron trees, shrubs including many species like primulas, poppies, potentillas, saxifrages and gentians. The river Yumthang Chu flows through this sanctuary & it is also famous for the conservation of Himalayan yaks, sheep and wolfs who have become quite rare sights. Also, you can find some Himalayan birds here, which you will not see normally while visiting any hill station.
  • Zero Point Zero point or Yume Samdong is the place where three rivers meet with surrounding snow-clad mountains and offering marvelous scenic views.
